Access to key statistical and demographic data and trend information is critical for identifying opportunities and constraints for economic development. A range of statistical information is available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and other organisations.
The South West Group has established a publically available economic profile web portal which contains a range of regional economic and statistical data. The South West Group economic profile portal includes information such as Gross Regional Product, local jobs, local businesses, employment, unemployment, population, building approvals, industry structure, journey to work and other commonly used economic indicators.
The website is hosted economy.id and is updated using ABS Census and other data, National Institute of Economic and Industry Research (NIEIR) information and other credible sources.
The South West Group also hosts a web portal containing forecast information on population and households in the South West Metropolitan Region.
This information resource is publicly available and provides the region with a consistent set of population forecasts for the South West Group, member Councils and other stakeholders to use in making evidence-based decisions about planning and resource allocation. The South West Group also uses the forecasts in priority setting and business case development.
