The South West Group takes a lead role in advocacy and lobbying for investment in infrastructure and services that will benefit the South West Metropolitan Region, its residents and the business community.

Submissions may be pro-actively aimed at addressing important issues facing the region, or be reactive in response to a policy, strategy, plan or legislation released by the Federal Government, State Government or other entity with implications for the region.

State and Federal budget submissions are prepared by the South West Group annually and lodged with the respective governments in the December or January preceding the handing down of the annual budget for the next financial year.

Draft submissions prepared by the South West Group are developed in consultation with the member Councils and referred to the relevant Committees before referral and subsequent adoption by the Board.
