OBJECTIVES

• Support the economic sustainability of Local Governments in the region

• Be recognised as an effective broker in the coordination of resource sharing and service delivery to provide economic and functional benefits to the region

• Support best whole of life value for purchasing of goods and services by Local Governments in the region

STRATEGIES

• Closely follow the developments at both State and Commonwealth level on local government economic sustainability and seek opportunities for the South Metropolitan Region to trial coordination and infrastructure projects
• Assess resource sharing, purchasing and management activities to reduce costs and improve service delivery through cooperation and coordination
• Seek out opportunities where there are overlaps in responsibility between the three spheres of government to increase investment in infrastructure and support operational costs
