New Regional Intermodal Transport Hub
The development of the 1400 hectare Latitude 32 Industrial Park at Hope Valley/Wattleup will provide the opportunity to create Australia’s most efficient intermodal transport hub.
An intermodal hub provides the opportunity to efficiently transfer freight between transport modes such as road and rail as well as providing warehousing. Intermodal hubs are essential in improving the proportion of freight on rail.
Meyrick and Associates have completed the “Intermodal Freight Terminal Study” for Latitude 32 identifying options for the facility.
Latitude 32 is an optimal location for an intermodal hub as it has sufficient land area that can be levelled, it has heavy rail passing through the development, it is close to the options for the new port at Kwinana, it will have excellent road connections to Stock Road, Kwinana Freeway and Tonkin Highway and it is within an area which is the source and destination of a large proportion of container traffic.
LandCorp are coordinating the Latitude 32 Project which is located across the boundary between City of Cockburn and the Town of Kwinana (see http://www.latitude32.com.au ).
